Nimber is a community delivery service where you can send anything, anytime, anywhere with trusted people going that way, anyway. We create a more convenient, cost-effective, sustainable, and friendly delivery community than anything else in the world.
Here’s a brief rundown of how the system works. Nimber is basically a 6 step process between senders and bringers.
- Senders post a task including pickup and delivery locations, size, and price.
- We alert bringers based on their route specifications to find a match between the task and bringers.
- Bringers make an offer to the sender including a potential date they can help.
- The sender agrees to work with a bringer by accepting their offer and arranging pickup and delivery details.
- The bringer delivers the item(s).
- Sender celebrates, bringer gets paid, bringer celebrates :)
What is a bringer?
A bringer is what we call the members of the community who help deliver items. A bringer can be anyone. Whether you travel by bicycle, car, van, train, or bus. You could even go on foot and deliver items if you’d prefer. The idea is that if you have a free hand or some space in your rucksack or boot, take something with you on your way. By utilising that excess space whilst you move about we create the most sustainable delivery solution around.
How do I become a bringer?
That’s easy. Simply sign up at nimber.com/register. Then enter your email address, full name, phone number and relevant info. The more information you add (your vehicle information etc), the better we are able to match you with relevant tasks. You should also add a profile photo of yourself and add your bank account information into the settings
How do I find items to deliver?
There are a couple of options. One way is to search on Nimber for tasks i n your area or on a route you are travelling. Additionally, any of those search queries you make can be saved and you can request notifications be sent to you about new items posted on those routes or in those areas. That’s the quickest way to find new tasks.
How do I get paid?
We take care of that. When you offer to help someone with a task and the sender accepts your offer you can then pick it up and deliver it at the agreed upon times and places. Once you’ve done this head back to the task and mark it delivered. At that point the sender will confirm the delivery within 24 hours and once they do we process the payment and send it to the bank account you’ve specified in your wallet. You are required to verify your identity in order for us to process your payments.
What about taxes?
Most countries allow you to take items to help cover the cost of your travel without tax implications. However, if delivering items is what you do for a living, you would be required to identify as a company on Nimber and pay taxes on your earnings. However, we strongly advise that you talk to your local tax professional for proper guidance regarding taxes in your particular area.
How much does it cost to get my item delivered?
Ultimately, you decide the amount you are willing to pay for delivery. As you go through the sending process we will give you a recommended price based on our data for items of similar size that have been delivered over a similar distance by the community. One thing to keep in mind, the price you put may not be commensurate with what the bringer community sees as fair value for the task. If you haven’t received an offer in the first 24 hours it may be wise to increase your reward to make the task more enticing.
Is my item insured?
All assignments accepted, confirmed and delivered through Nimber are insured up to NOK 10,000 through Tryg Forsikring. See terms and conditions from Tryg Forsikring here. In order for the insurance to apply, payment must be made via Nimber's platform (other payment methods such as Vipps, cash and the like are not allowed). This includes accepting offers and approving the delivery of the item. The insurance only covers damage / theft that occurred during delivery via Nimber (from the item is picked up until it is delivered to the recipient).
Can I change the information in my task?
Yes, you can change any of the information about the task up until you have accepted an offer. This includes the title, price, image, description, pickup and delivery locations, and delivery date.
Can I cancel my task after I’ve posted it?
Yes, you can. As long as you have not accepted an offer from a bringer you can cancel the task at any time. If you have outstanding offers however, polite courtesy of reaching out and thanking them for their interest is much appreciated by the community.
How and when do I pay for a delivery?
All payments are paid via credit or debit card. You will be prompted to enter a payment method in order to accept an offer you have received from a bringer. Once you have added a payment card you will be able to accept the offer and the bringer can pick up your item and deliver it. However, your card is not charged until the item is confirmed delivered by you or, alternatively, 24 hours after bringer confirmation.
How do I pay the bringer?
You don’t have to worry about that. We’ll take care of it for you. Once you or the bringer marks the task as being delivered we take care of processing all of the payments. Do not pay bringers in cash upon delivery as this will result in you getting charged twice. It is also against our terms and conditions to pay with cash, as it causes confusion and invalidates the insurance Nimber provides.
Do I get a transaction receipt and does it include VAT?
Once a delivery is finalised and we charge your credit/debit card Nimber produces a transaction statement. It will show the reward paid to the bringer and the Nimber service fee. The statement will include VAT only if the bringer is acting in a commercial capacity, i.e. it is a business. If so, your transaction statement will indicate the VAT amount and the VAT number of the bringer (business). If the transaction is VAT exempt, no VAT will be included in the statement.
What items are prohibited?
You can send virtually anything via Nimber. There are only a few exceptions to this rule. You cannot send any illegal or hazardous substances or firearms as well as any other items that are prohibited by law in your area.
